A big thanks to all the colleges, vendors, staff and of course the CACS (California Association of College Stores) for making the MEGA Regional 2009 Expo a huge success! The Corn Mug team enjoyed exhibiting at this fast paced one day trade show and meeting the great college bookstores of the Western US!

We had a fantastic number of people participate in our ‘Guess the Kernels’ contest where the challenge was to guess the number of corn kernels used in our booth’s display. Our number one best guesser is Kelley Swanson of Taft College with the excellent estimate of 25,000 kernels. That’s only 537 kernels away from the true count! We were so impressed by all the super close guesses that we decided to also give away our grand prize to the 5 contestants that got within or close to 5,000 kernels of the actual amount.

Here are our Honorable Mentions:

Patti Larkin of Southwestern College – 23,475
Christian Blue of Better World Books – 22,649
Romy Paule of Foothill College – 30,000

Also within 5,000 kernels are Dawn McIntosh and David Mayer of Antelope Valley College with kernel counts of 20,000.5 and 20,000 respectively. Dawn beat out David by a wee half of a kernel and was in fact the only contestant to guess in fractions!

Congratulations to all winners!

Though many college bookstores have been successfully selling corn mugs for years,  this was our first chance to publicly show off our 100% corn based, biodegradable and sustainable coffee mugs to the college bookstores. The response was terrific and colleges were so creative with their great insignia for custom imprinting.

So… keep your eye out for brightly colored, uniquely imprinted, naturally farmed, biodegradable corn mugs in a college bookstore near you!
